As I write this blog post, I am currently in the middle of migrating all the websites I manage from my current provider to VPS.NET. I host/admin 7 websites currently on a VPS at godaddy.com. Why, you might ask am I migrating? Below I have outlined three of my main reasons.
1. VPS.NET provides true cloud hosting.
I love the fact that they provide true cloud hosting which is easily scalable and can be hosted in multiple data centers throughout the world. I am current having some slight issues with bandwidth for the sites I am hosting. With on demand scalable nodes I can add processing power and bandwidth to my server almost effortlessly. There is no need for me to migrate to a whole different server. I just simply choose to add another node or two to my existing VPS and within a very short time my server is upgraded.
2. The support and ease of use of the VPS.NET tools.
Coming from Godaddy, the user friendly vps.net website is a breath of fresh air. All of the tools I need are easy to find with no clutter. This makes a world of difference for me when I need to get something done fast. I have only had the chance to interact with vps.net support, but it has always been fast and helpful. I get a real sense of personal support rather than dealing with a super huge company. I sent an email the other day about a billing question, and was replied to within an hour by a real human with real help.
3. VPS.NET costs less.
For the amount of money I was paying for a VPS over at godaddy.com, I can get so much more at vps.net. I was paying $49 per month at godaddy.com for my VPS and getting 2GHz/2GB RAM/20GB/20 GB Storage/2GB Bandwidth. For approx the same price at VPS.NET I can get 4.2GHz/2632MB RAM/70GB Storage/7TB Bandwith. The ISPManager tool is what I chose for my CentOS webserver and the license is provided for free with your VPS (Plesk and CPanel are optional for additional charge). ISPManager is easy to use and I like the way it sets up the directory structure on the server. I also like that they support payment via Paypal, which is what I use for my web design business primarily.
So far I have had a good experience at VPS.NET and plan to continue using them as long as I need to host websites.
